Innistrad Sealed Pool #8 and the Introduction of Grindhouse Sealed

With this pool, I introduce a new idea I had for an event "series" that I'm calling

Grindhouse Sealed Deck

aka #GrindhouseSealed aka GHSD aka Mulldrifting's Sealed Thing.

The concept is an 8-man single-elimination event where I randomly assign people to different pools that I have posted on my blog. No changing decks allowed between rounds. Sideboards limited to 5 cards. You go in with what you build, and you better be happy with the deck as you make it. Five cards is not a lot, and you cannot do elaborate color swaps or alternative builds.

The purpose of Grindhouse Sealed is mainly to test one's ability to build the correct maindeck for a sealed pool. I understand testing one's ability to sideboard / use alternative builds for different matchups is also incredibly important, and I may design a different event to test that ability in particular (likely to be named Deathproof Sealed), but GRINDHOUSE SEALED is mostly about getting it right the first time.

Therefore, limited sideboards, and you must use the same maindeck for game one every time.

Another hitch: multiple people CAN be assigned the same exact sealed pool within a bracket. (Obviously who gets which pool is hidden information.) Also, if the same pool wins a bracket twice in a row, it will be eliminated from the potential pools entirely. The reason the events are single-elim are to GRIND out pools that are "too good" quickly and to enable people to build a wide variety of pools (versus play out the same build more). Of course, new pools are being added every day (at my current rate and as long as people keep sending in pools!), so the pool of pools (lol?) will not get stale.

Games can be played out on any platform including Magic Online, Magic Workstation, and Cockatrice. I will not provide cards however, so you'll have to acquire decks yourself (but I imagine these decks will cost very little, as they're mostly Constructed unplayables). And MWS and Cockatrice are both free.

Prize will be awarded, likely in SCG Store Credit (events are not SCG-affiliated however; it's for personal amusement). And winners of multiple events will be considered for more substantial prizes. (Obv haven't really thought this far ahead.) Events are free to enter, though, so whatever you get is like free value. :P

I'll probably start some trial runs later today (Friday, 10/14/2011). Watch Twitter and Facebook for news of when it will start (links to both at the top of the page). Events will be run in my own personal chatroom here. Email address required for participation. StarCityGames.com accounts probably required.

Anyway, enough of that. Let's get to Julian Booher's sealed pool. You know the drill. (I hope.)
